Mark has a successful track record in helping businesses and public organisations change. He is an experienced board member and strategic adviser, constructively challenging executive teams to adapt to changing customers’ needs and to technological disruption. Mark is a qualified and experienced senior executive coach and mentor.

Mark’s is a Chartered Surveyor and former Minister of State with extensive experience of, and connections across, the markets for commercial real estate, housing and infrastructure, as well as Whitehall & Westminster.

  • Chairman of Saltaire Housing Ltd, overseeing the delivery of the UK Government's £3bn Affordable Housing Guarantee Scheme.

  • Strategic Advisor to the Board of Benoy, a global architectural practice, supporting directors in driving the business forward in the UK and in its key regional markets.

  • Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching (Henley Business School), with a successful track record in executive coaching and mentoring. Working with senior business leaders and their teams to manage change and improve performance.

  • Non Executive Director to Edward Stanford Ltd, the UK's leading travel and cartography business (2012-2020). Helped devise new strategy, oversaw relocation of Covent Garden store and investment in web sales.

  • Mentor for the Mentorship Programme of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce (2020 & 2021). Helping the next generation thrive. Mentoring PropTech start-ups and their founders.

  • A former Member of Parliament (2001-19) and UK Government Minister.

  • The Prime Minister's Trade & Investment Envoy to the Nordic & Baltic nations (2014-2019) and also to Brazil (2016-2019). Supported UK trade & exports and bilateral trade initiatives in sectors including renewable technologies, infrastructure & urban development and financial services.

  • As Housing & Local Growth Minister, responsible for delivering £11 billion of Government housing programmes, establishing the Build to Rent Sector, creating the Future High Street Forum and overhauling the UK's 24 Enterprise Zones. Chairman, All Party Parliamentary Housing & Planning Group.

  • As Business & Enterprise Minister, responsible for leading key business sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Maritime, Retail and Professional & Business Services; UK trade and inward investment; leading the Green Construction Board; overseeing the creation of 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships. Chairman, the All Party Parliamentary Group for Smart Cities (2015-17).

  • A Chartered Surveyor who ran his own business consultancy for ten years. Strong interests in smart cities, urban regeneration, economic development, private rented sector, corporate real estate, and construction & BIM.
